At GLOBILED we develop autonomous, smart and tele-managed networks of LED technology lighting to improve road safety.
The lack of lighting is one of the main causes of traffic accidents in Greece as well as on a global level.
They are autonomous lighting systems that operate on solar energy, eliminating the need for underground wiring and infrastructure. Each pole (8-10m high) features:
- Photovoltaic panel for energy collection during the day.
- Lithium/Nickel batteries for full autonomy at night.
- High-efficiency LED luminaires (≤80W) for maximum visibility.
- Smart MPPT controller that regulates light intensity in real-time.
The innovation lies in smart management. Through a SIM card, each autonomous lighting system communicates with central software. This allows the Regions to control their operation remotely and schedule preventive maintenance.
The result is safe passage for drivers and pedestrians, aesthetic upgrading of the landscape, and zero electricity costs, with an emphasis on dangerous spots where the speed limit is up to 60km/h.

In Greece, the project across the 13 Regions of the country, is radically changing the landscape. The project involves the installation of 31,938 new autonomous, smart lighting poles that will cover 958 kilometers of road network, which until today were in total darkness.
