The project involved the replacement of the High Pressure Sodium Luminaires, 150 watt+ballast(180Watt) with Smart GlobiLED luminaires of 70 watt. The GlobiLED luminaires include a wireless interface zigbee which via a wireless Management Node, referred to as GlobiNODE(GN), had access to the Light Management Software(LMS) installed at the Municipality premises. The LMS has the ability to give commands for turning on and off the luminaires automatically, as well as, control the proper lightness level depending on the outdoor lightness conditions. After 4 years’ operation at the Municipality of Marathon, the results are extraordinary:

61% electricity cost savings.

20% energy saving due to the fact that the technicians at the Municipality were decreasing the power level of the street lights from 12pm to 4am daily.

The lighting upgrade has resulted in the increase of the level of safety in the roads of the Municipality. This automatically translates in less accidents occurring and more satisfied citizens.
